2017 is off to a great start with HTPC! In the first 3 months we have had 3 USPC national examiners for instruction! Thank you to Billie Stewart, Richard Lamb and Ann Haller for their wisdom and support! We are already making plans for them to join us again later in the year.
We have some big changes with HORSEMASTERS joining. Adults over 25 may now join or continue in USPC in every aspect. We are sending teams to Dressage, Games and Eventing Rally this season with Horsemasters and kids included!!! Contact Laura Edison for more Horsemaster information! All aspects of USPC are available.
We welcomed lots of new members and many have new certifications. Thanks to Mary Leverett, Sarah Beth Hood, Susan Thomas and Kerry Tracey for helping in our 2017 certification process and congratulations to all of our hard working members!
Both of our Hilltoppers teams finished in 2nd place at the regional Quiz Rally and several attended the Everything but the Horse Rally as well. Way to go!
Congratulations to Hilltopper Sarah Beth Hood who has been named to the International Exchange Team for 2017! The US will host the teams this year and she will make a wonderful representative of our club, our region, and the United States!!
We hosted a very successful Games clinic and Gymkhana Fundraiser and are seeking more fundraising opportunities. Hilltoppers is one of the few clubs that does not ask members to pay for instruction thanks to the amazing volunteer work of our members and supporters!
Congratulations to Bella Wade who was appointed to the South Region Youth Board as our HTPC representative!
We have a couple of spring lessons scheduled with Susan Thomas and Kristie Roberson to prepare for our rally season and soon we will release dates for our own summer camp (held last year at Ashland Farm). We have a big year planned and are so excited for 2017!
The following safety courses are required for some USPC volunteers but are also free of charge and recommended to all parents and also our members who may serve as instructors or in other volunteer roles in our club.
Per Policy 0127, USPC requires all volunteers in a leadership position learn the "It's Hot Outside" training module, designed by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Once an individual has gone through the module, they will take the quick Pony Club quiz on heat illness so that their record will show that they have completed the training.
In addition, it is recommended that instructors, members who are instructing, parents, and any other volunteers should go through the It's Hot Outside Training. The more a person knows, the quicker they can spot the warning signs of anyone at a Pony Club function who is having trouble with the heat, and the better they can treat that person.

Per Policy 0126, USPC requires all volunteers holding a leadership position within Pony Club to complete the Heads-Up Concussion Training module, which was done in conjunction with the NFL and the CDC Foundation. Once an individual has going through the module, they will take the quick Pony Club quiz on concussions so that their record will show that they have completed the training.
In addition, it is recommended that instructors, members who are instructing, parents, and any other volunteers go through the Head's-Up Training.
